Sweat trickled down Eve’s face as she slowly bent down in the grass outside of their little dwelling while she held her very distended belly. She looked down and could not see her feet. Her other hand pushed against the trunk of her favorite shade tree as she lowered herself to the ground. The leaves rustled above her as she moved her spreading hips onto the straw mat and leaned against the trunk of the tree. She blew some loose hair off her face and wiped her damp upper lip with the top of her hand.

Suddenly, without warning, pain moved through her lower back. She sucked in air and screamed. Adam, her wide-eyed young husband, appeared from the field where he was working.

“Eve, what happened? Are you okay?”

Eve blew out some air through her mouth. “I’m not sure. Something hurts in my back.”

“Remember, Abba said when you begin to bring forth the man-child or woman-child, you will have pains. Maybe you are bringing forth.”

Eve sucked in more air as she pushed her back against the trunk of the tree, then gave a loud moan.

The tall bushes behind their dwelling swayed as if a great wind moved them. They heard the strong, loving voice of their Abba, “Eve and Adam, everything is alright. Eve, your body is working to bring forth your first child.”

Abba gently bent down beside Eve. He wiped her forehead and moved the skin covering up above her knees.

“Adam, move over to her other side, hold her hand and do what I tell you.”

“Eve.”

“Yes, Abba.”

“Do you remember watching some of the animals bring forth smaller animals that seemed to drop out of them? And have you observed some of your lambs come forth?”

“Yes, Abba.”

“Something similar is happening to you, but greater. This child will look like a smaller version of you and Adam and, like you, have My Image.”

“Yes, Abba,” said Eve. Then she moaned.

“Adam, as Eve’s body begins to bring the baby forth, you will see a tiny head. When you do, gently hold it and be ready to embrace the rest of the body as it moves out of Eve.”

“Yes, Abba,” said Adam as he felt Eve squeeze his hand so hard it almost hurt.”

“The head is showing, Adam. Slide down and move your hands between her knees and place your hands under the head.”

Adam moved to his position. Suddenly Eve moaned and screamed, and the full head burst through.

Abba wiped Eve’s face.

“Eve, go ahead and push when your body wants to.

Eve gave a small nod and her eyes remained focused on Adam.

She gave another moan and a shoulder appeared. She pushed again and the rest of the little body slid out.

Adam held the child and saw the long cord. “Abba is everything alright?”

“Yes, Adam. Everything is as it should be. Hand the child to me.”

Adam and Eve watched Abba clean the child’s face, pat the child on his back, and smile when the child gave a little cry.

“This man-child you brought forth has a good set of lungs,” said Abba as he continued to check the baby.

Then he laid the baby on his tummy upon Eve. She placed her hand on his little body and automatically rubbed him while Abba showed Adam how to care for the cord and placenta.

After the cord and placenta were cared for, Abba placed the baby in the crook of Eve’s elbow. The baby’s eyelids fluttered open and shut. They finally remained opened.

“This man-child has eyes like the early night and the early morning,” said Eve. She stroked his little cheek and let out a sigh. “He is beautiful. I was sad when we had to leave the garden because I disobeyed You, Abba. I thought I would never see anything that beautiful again. But You gave me something more beautiful. He is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.”

“Eve, I am glad you feel My blessing as the first mother on the earth to bring forth the first child.”
